How to Update your TRS19/TRS22/Trainz Plus build

This article provides a step by step guide to updating your current Trainz build to a new build.

GUIDE TO UPDATING YOUR BUILD - WINDOWS:

  1. Start Trainz
  2. Click on Trainz Settings > Install tab > Check for Updates
  3. If a patch is available, click Continue
  4. If no patch is available see "Changing Patch Target" below
  5. Check that the patch target matches the build you want to update (e.g. C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022)
  6. Enter your MyTrainz username and password if not already entered
  7. Click Next
  8. Check the Patch Stream matches your build (e.g. TRS22 or Trainz Plus)
  9. Click Change Stream if you need to patch using a different stream (e.g. Trainz Plus Beta)
  10. Click Next
  11. "Checking for available patches" will appear, then click "Apply Patch" when the patch is found
  12. If the patch is not found, see "Changing Patch Stream" below
  13. "Reading Configuration" then "Checking target" will show in the Patch Installer window, then the download will commence
  14. Once the file is downloaded, then the installation will continue showing "Installing"
  15. Once successful, the "Installation Complete" message will appear.

  13. Mac Users - Enter your Administrator username and password when prompted (note: this is NOT your MyTrainz username)
  14. "Reading Configuration" then "Checking target" will show in the Patch Installer window, then the download will commence
  15. Once the file is downloaded, then the installation will continue showing "Installing"
  16. Once successful, the "Installation Complete" message will appear.

CHANGING PATCH TARGET:

If your patches is pointing to the wrong build, you will need to change the patch target. 

  1. To find the "target build" you need to know the path to where the application is installed.
  2. If you use a shortcut to start Trainz, you can check the properties of the shortcut to find the path. 
  3. Windows Users - Default path is:  C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022)
  4. Mac User - Default path is: Applications/Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022
  5. Start Trainz
  6. Click on Trainz Settings > Install tab > Change Trainz update stream
  7. Click "Change Targets"
  8. Navigate to select the folder where Trainz is installed
  9. Windows - select TRS22.exe then click Open
  10. Mac Users - select /Applications/Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022.app then click Open
  11. Click Next to continue
  12. Continue as above

Troubleshooting:

  • "No patch is available" error - please check that you are patching the correct build number and that you have chosen the correct patch Stream.
  • "No patchable products" error - while this username may be valid, the message indicates it is not authorised for this version of Trainz. Please check that you are using the account that is registered for Trainz.
  • "Selected Target is not valid" - you have not selected the correct folder where your version of Trainz is installed
  • Contact Helpdesk if you are still unable to troubleshoot your issue
