Creating a Shortcut or Start Menu link
Posted by N3V Games (Paul) on 27 January 2016 03:16 PM

To create a shortcut for TANE or TRS19, simply locate the TANE.exe or TRS19 application, left click to select it, and then r-click and choose from the following options:

  • Pin to Taskbar (this will create an icon on the bar at the bottom of your screen)
  • Pin to Start Menu (this will create an icon that shows in a list when you click on the Windows Start icon)
  • Create Shortcut (this will create a shortcut in the TANE or TRS19 folder which you can then drag to your desktop)
  • Send to > Desktop (available in some Windows versions)

Finding the correct TANE.exe:

If you have multiple installs and you are not sure where TANE.exe resides, here are some tips.

  • The default location for new installs (2016) is 'C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz A New Era', note the 'Trainz A New Era' folder may be called 'Trainz A New Era SP1' or 'Trainz A New Era SP2' with some newer installers.
  • The default location for older installs (2015) is C:\Program Files\N3V Games\TANE
  • Double click when you have found TANE.exe to check the build number on your launcher
  • TANE SP1 build numbers are in the range 803xx - 804xx
  • TANE SP2 build numbers are in the range 883xx - 909xx

Finding the TRS19.exe

The default location for TRS19 installs is 'C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019'
