For TANE Builds created prior to Jan 4 2016:

This article assumes you have downloaded the digital version of TANE. For help downloading, please click here.

The download for TANE is a single .zip file. This must be extracted prior to running the installer.

Once the file has been downloaded, right-click on the file and choose either "Extract All" or "Extract to <filename>".

A window will appear showing the unzipping progress.

Once the unzipping process is complete, you should have all the files unzipped into a single folder.

For Trainz A New Era Standard, it will look like this:

For Trainz A New Era Deluxe it will look like this:

Once you have unzipped or "Extracted" the files into a folder as above, select the "setup" file and double click to begin the install process.

We suggest you choose the default settings unless you have a specific reason to change anything.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

If your Windows zip file utility does not unzip the file, try installing Winzip or 7Zip and the following the steps above.

If you cannot click the "Next" button to accept the Agreement, please follow this guide.

The installer shows as "Not Responding" for 5 to 15 minutes during the "Preparing to Install" phase. Don't worry, it will respond if left alone as it is process A LOT of content. Leave your computer running to allow this process to complete.

Full installation will take 30-60 minutes on most machines. Longer on slower machines.

There are no differences in features between Steam and MyTrainz editions of Trainz; each will include all of the same features and functions for that version. There are, however, some differences for the Steam editions in regards to DLC packs, registration, and updating.

DLC packs

DLC packs purchased through Steam can only be used with the Steam editions of Trainz.

DLC packs purchased through the Trainz Store can be used with any compatible version of Trainz, including Steam versions.

Registration

Registration of the Steam editions is achieved by simply entering your MyTrainz account's username and password into the Internet tab of the Trainz Settings, which you can do by following these steps:

Double click on your Trainz icon

Click on Trainz Settings

Click on the Internet tab

Enter your username and password into the boxes provided (please keep in mind that your username and password are case sensitive), then press enter.

Now try starting Trainz.

When you start Trainz, Trainz will then register itself into your account.

Please note, you will not see any changes in your MyTrainz account's details after registering. The Steam edition of Trainz does not provide access to the digital download through MyTrainz.

Updates/Patches

For updates and patches, these will be installed automatically through Steam.

The userdata-redirect-map.txt found in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE folder is the file that tells TANE where to store any local files.

DO NOT ever delete the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE folder OR the userdata-redirect-map.txt file in that folder.

Also, never manually edit this file as getting even one space incorrect can break your game.

If the redirect file does not exist, TANE will create a new one and create a new local data folder (or worse, point to a folder that has no data and the game will appear corrupt).

Note that the redirect file can also store multiple locations so you can install and run multiple versions of trains simultaneously.

For Windows versions of Trainz, sometimes Windows may prevent Trainz from being able to modify/update the contents of the LocalData folder. Please ensure that Trainz has full permissions on your computer, including through any security programs, by doing the following:

Go into Window Explorer (or My Computer), and navigate to the Trainz folder, and right click on the 'TANE.exe' file, and click on 'properties', and then click on the tab called 'Compatibility'.
Please also ensure that you have given Trainz full access in your firewall and anti-virus. Please try adding the 'TANE.exe' file as an exception in your firewall and anti-virus.

Finding the correct TANE.exe:

If you have multiple installs and you are not sure where TANE.exe resides, here are some tips.

The default location for new installs (2016) is 'C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz A New Era', note the 'Trainz A New Era' folder may be called 'Trainz A New Era SP1' or 'Trainz A New Era SP2' with some newer installers.

The default location for older installs (2015) is C:\Program Files\N3V Games\TANE

Double click when you have found TANE.exe to check the build number on your launcher

TANE SP1 build numbers are in the range 803xx - 804xx

TANE SP2 build numbers are in the range 883xx - 909xx

NOTE: TANE SP1 introduces a new patcher. Please follow this guide for TANE SP1.

Manual patches for TANE builds are located at: http://www.trainzportal.com/product/view/trainz-simulator-a-new-era

If your build number is not listed there, then you are required to use the auto-patch option (or there is not patch yet for your version). Here is a link on how to auto-patch.

Step 1: Locate the correct patch by identifying your build number on the TANE Launcher

Step 2: Download the manual patch for your build

Step 3: Once downloaded, double click to run the patcher executable

Step 4: The patcher window appears and will check the default location for your installation of Trainz

If your installation is not in this location or is the incorrect version, an error will appear.

Step 5: If required, click the ... box to browse to the correct location and select the TANE.exe then click Open.

Step 6: The standard patching process now continues with the files being unpacked, then patched. This process can take quite a long time, so generally it is best to "set and forget" then come back 30-60 minutes later.

Troubleshooting:

Do not download the patch file into your TANE install directory

The "searching for install directory" step can take several minutes

Use the "..." link to browse to your TANE install location

Once the patch is installed, when restarting TANE, the "Starting TANE" step can take upwards of 5-10 minutes to complete.

Please be patient - if a step is taking a long time, cancelling it is likely to result in more problems than waiting for it to complete

MD5 Checksum information:
To confirm that your patch has been downloaded fully, here are the MD5 checksums for each patch file.

From the Windows Explorer folder, copy the "crashdump.dmp" file from the local user data folder and paste it on your desktop

Log in to support.Trainzportal.com and click on Troubleshooter

Click on the Bug Report option

Describe IN DETAIL the steps which lead to the crash (including route/session/asset KUID information)

Also provide the build number of TANE which crashed, and of course attach the crashdump.dmp file to the ticket.

Troubleshooting:

If you cannot see the Hidden Files in your local data folder follow these steps:

To enable Hidden Files in Windows 8.X or 10 click on View on the folder's toolbar and select to view Hidden files. (You may have to select Options/View then scroll down to select the Show hidden files option).

To enable Hidden Files in Windows 7 click Organize>Folder and Search options>View>scroll down and select Show hidden files and folders.

After making these changes, back in C:\Users folder, double click on your Windows user name folder. The user name is usually your windows login name.

If you have successfully enabled to view hidden files and folders, you should now see the AppData folder

Navigate to AppData>Local>N3V Games>(your current Tane userdata folder name which crashed last time).

Copy the crashdump.dmp file and paste it on your desktop and follow the remaining steps above.

This article is for TANE Pre Service Pack 1 patches. For TANE Service Pack 1 or newer, please see the following page of the Trainz Wiki: https://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/T:ANE_Service_Packs

The auto-patcher appears when a new update is available on the patch server.

Note, this guide shows the Windows version of Trainz. The steps will be very similar, or the same, for the Mac version.

You can also manually trigger the update by clicking Launcher > Trainz Settings > Install > “Check for T:ANE Updates”.

You will then be notified if a patch is available or not.

Simply click OK to begin the process which involves downloading the small T:ANE Patcher program.

Once the Trainz Patcher is downloaded, you may see a request to provide permission for the patcher to access your computer.

Click on Yes.

Once you click yes, the updating process begins and you can follow progress in the window as shown below.

Patching Steps: (the entries below in italics will show in the download progress window)

Waiting for Trainz: A New Era to safely shut down… This step may take a minute or so

Checking for available disk space for patching.

Searching for patches…

Downloading patch file… The progress bar will show how long this step will take. The speed of the download depends on your Internet connection. The initial patch is 8GB and may a long time to download. Future patches are likely to be much smaller (Hotfix 1 is roughly 30MB)

Unpacking patch file… This step takes the downloaded file and prepares it for patching

Patching from xxxxx to xxxxx… Again the progress bar will appear (after a minute or so preparation). This time this step takes depends on your hardware and could take from a few minutes to an hour or so.

No (more) patches at server for version: xxxxx

Updating Trainz asset database… This step is the final stage and may take several minutes.

Patch Complete

Troubleshooting:

If prompted, allow T:ANE Patcher.exe to make changes to your computer.

If you are stuck at: “Waiting for Trainz: A New Era to safely shutdown” – either cancel the patch and start again running the patch from the launcher i.e. do not have a game window open. Or use Task Manager to shut down TANE.exe and the patch will continue. (Do not shutdown tane-patcher.exe)

If you DO NOT receive the Patch Complete message, your update has failed and you are likely to have problems. We suggest that you reinstall the game and begin the process again.

If your T:ANE windows do not all shut down safely, or your patch stalls, cancel the patch, and restart the process with only the Launcher window open

For Mac, if you see a screen showing "Ready to Begin" with no option to continue, then please download and install the online patch installer for TANE.

If you cancel the patch for any reason, you should see an error similar to the one below. If you don’t, your patch may not have ended correctly and data may be lost. We suggest that once you start patching you allow it to finish.

If you receive an error such as the one below, it is likely that your install is corrupt. You will either need to reinstall your original version and reapply the patch, or access the latest full install version and install that directly.

To find out your system specification, you need to run a program called dxdiag

Click on the Windows Start Menu, type in dxdiag and click on dxdiag under the Programs heading.

The diagnostic tool appears in a new window and may take a minute or so to run the diagnostic tests.

The System Tab shows your Operating System, Processor (CPU), and whether DX11 is installed.

Next, click on the Display Tab to find your Graphics Card

PLEASE NOTE: It is possible to have DX11 installed, but not have a graphics card that supports DX11 features.

To find if your graphics card supports DX11, we suggest you type the name of your card into Google Search and add "+DX11" then review the articles that appear e.g. GeForce GT 630 +DX11

For some graphics cards, the version that your graphics card supports may be shown in the 'display' tab in DXDiag in the 'DDI Version' section on the right. If this shows 10, 10.0, or 10.1 then it indicates that your graphics card only supports up to DirectX 10. If this shows 11 or higher, then your graphics card may support DirectX 11.

Here is a list of supported DX11 cards

Mac Users

Click on the Apple icon and click "About This Mac"
Check the Mac OpenGL capabilities of your system here.

This means that it can operate offline and will never require a connection to the DRM (digital Rights Management) server to authenticate your product ownership.

Instead, this build uses a Product Key (serial number) to provide authentication.

Also the Steam build has an option to go offline (Steam client > Steam menu > Go offline > restart Steam.

The KS Box version can be updated to TANE SP2 (via SP1); you can find further information on updating TANE here. The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource ‘station_bump.texture’ etc.

This is most likely caused because the item is built-in to a previous version of Trainz and the source textures are not included with the asset.

To resolve this issue, you need to download the item from the Download Station where the original textures are included with the asset. Note that the process of uploading TS12 built-in content is still being worked on.

It is possible for multiple versions of Trainz A New Era and Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 to co-exist on one machine. However there are some rules to follow to ensure smooth operation.

Please note also that this advice is provided as a guide only. We are not responsible for any lost data that may occur as a result of following this guide.

COPYING YOUR CURRENT INSTALLATION:

Create a new folder for your copy of TANE. e.g. D:/TANE-Beta

Copy all the files from your current install folder to the new location (this includes the Resources folder, the .dll files and TANE.exe and TrainzUtil.exe)

Do NOT copy your local data folder (we will import your local data later)

Start Trainz and you will be prompted to enter your username

A new local data folder will be created at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE\build xxxxxxxx

Note that this process takes 5-10 minutes

If you want to move local content into the new build, then follow this guide or this guide for importing from TS12.

NOTE: We do not recommend you manually move files using Windows Explorer.

NEVER move or delete the override file from C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE\

For TRS19, replace any reference to 'TANE' or 'TANE.exe' with 'TRS19' or 'TRS19.exe' respectively.

Note that if you have a Gold Membership or a Trainz Plus membership, then it is not permissible to run multiple copies of Trainz versions obtained through your membership simultaneously (they can be installed multiple times, just not multiple installations run simultaneously).

This article provides a step by step guide to installing TANE SP1 using the new DVD installer (for box edition disks received in 2016).

NOTE: For users who have purchased the TANE SP1 "Installer" Edition (Standard or Deluxe), the disks you have received will create a NEW INSTALLATION.
The default location is C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz A New Era. If this folder exists please select a new location to install.

INSTALLATION GUIDE:

Step 1.

Insert Disc 1 into your DVD drive

Step 2.

Double-click Installer.exe to begin the installation process. The following screen will appear:

Step 3.

Click Next and the following screen will appear:

Step 4.

Read the Agreement and if you agree to the terms, click Agree and the following screen will appear:

Step 5.

The default location is as shown above. If this is a new install, click Next.

If this folder already exists, your install will show the following warning.

We recommend that you click Cancel and then change the name (e.g. to Trainz A New Era SP1) then click Next.

Step 6.

When you see the screen below, click Install to begin copying the installation files to your harddrive.

Step 7.

This step copies the data from Disc 1 to your harddrive. This requires at least 20GB of space.

Step 8.

When prompted to insert Disc 2, Windows Explorer may select a path such as the image below.

Navigate to your DVD Drive and click on patch-2.bin then click Open.

Step 9.

The Installer will then continue copying the data to your harddrive, then show "Installing" and finally "Install Complete".

Step 10.

When complete, the TANE SP1 Launcher will automatically start. Click Start Trainz to bring up the Trainz Product Key entry window.

For new users, enter the Product Key that came with your installation discs.

For existing users who have order the SP1 Installer disks, use your existing Product Key (this can be found in MyTrainz > Serial Numbers if you have registered it).

If you do not have a Product Key or have ordered the wrong disk for your key, please contact anewera@n3vgames.com with details of your original purchase.

Step 11.

If you do not have a Key and need to enter it at a later date, the Install Tab allows entry of your correct Key.

TIPS:

The installer does not create a Start Menu or desktop Shortcut. To create your own shortcut to TANE SP1, please follow this guide.

You do not need to re-register in MyTrainz - just enter the Product Key to acitvate your build, enter your EXISTING MYTrainz username and password in the Launcher if you want to use the online features (and untick the disable" box).

You DO NOT need to register your Product Key in MyTrainz.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

1. "Path not viable: Filepath already exists"

This error indicates you are trying to install TANE SP1 into a folder that already contains an installation. Please create a new folder for this installation of TANE.

2. "Patch Failed: failed to copy source data to: "

Ensure that you inserted Disc 2 and selected the correct file (patch-2.bin) then clicked Next to continue copying data off the install disks.

3. "Unable to create installation data temp folder" (result -10)

This error is due to a windows permissions issue. The solution is to manually create a new Folder as follows:

Open Windows Explorer

Navigate to C:\Program Files

Click New Folder (provide administrator permission when prompted)

Type in the name of the folder as "N3V Games" (i.e your new folder path will look like C:\Program Files\N3V Games)

Now run the Installer.exe again

4. Invalid Product Key error.

Ensure that you have the correct key for your installation version. The first 3 letters indicate which version is required.

TNPS = build 80341

TNPD = build 80345

If one of your routes, sessions, or even a downloaded asset has disappeared, then it's likely that it has been removed due to a conflict with another asset, or your database has become corrupt or damaged.

Trainz will move this item to the 'backups' folder in your AppData folder. To access this folder, find the path in Launcher > Trainz Settings > Install (e.g. C:/Users/%username%/AppData/Local/N3V Games/TANE/build xxxxxxxx)

Open Windows Explorer, and navigate to your 'backups' folder which will contain several more folders depending on your settings.

Look for the date that is closest to the date you think the asset was deleted. If the asset is listed, then you may be able to import this into Trainz, by dragging and dropping the asset's folder into Content Manager. You can also use the 'import content folder' option, found in the 'file' menu in Content Manager, to import the asset.

If you are unable to find the asset in the backups folder, then there is no way to retrieve the asset other than by going to the original source where you first located the item.

We recommend that you create regular backups of assets that you create. This can be done by going into Content Manager and locating the asset you wish to backup. When located, select the asset and right click on it, then click on 'export to cdp'.

Now choose a folder to save to, give the file a name, and then click on save. This will then save a 'cdp' file, which will contain the asset(s) that you selected. You can re-install the asset using the 'import cdp' tool in Content Manager, found under the 'file' menu.

Step 3:

Enter your Product Key then click the Submit button.

Step 4:

If your Key is valid, you will receive a success message and your Key will be listed below.

Step 5:

You are now ready to enter your Username and Password into Trainz A New Era Launcher > Settings > Internet

TROUBLESHOOTING:

For AppStore and Steam editions of Trainz, simply enter your username and password into the Trainz Settings. When Trainz logs in for the first time, it will register in your account.

For Digital Downloads and Mac USB editions from the Trainz Store, the Trainz Store will automatically register these into the account they were purchased through.

Sometimes your database may become corrupted and affects built-in or DLC content.

Generally, a standard Database Rebuild from Launcher > Developer > Rebuild Database will rectify the situation.

To run an Extended Database Repair:

On the launcher, click on the 'developer' option at the top of the screen

Hold down the CTRL key

Left click on Rebuild database

Some versions of Trainz may not detect the CTRL key being held down. In this case you can manually start an extended database rebuild by following these steps:

Click on 'Trainz Settings' on the launcher screen

Go to the tab marked 'Dev' (not the one on the top menu)

Click on 'Enable Advanced Debug Tools'

Close all TRSxxx windows

Start TRSxxx.exe again

Click on 'Developer' at the top of the Launcher (not the one in Trainz Settings)

Click on 'Run TrainzUtil Command'

Type in 'repairdatabase extended' (without the quotes)

Click 'ok'

This will perform a full rebuild of the database repair and will force the DLC packages to be reinstalled fully (or other database corruption to be repaired).

T:ANE and TRS19 provide two ways to import content. Other methods may work to some degree but are not supported. This article is a guide to what will and won’t work when moving content around between Trainz versions.

Supported Content Install Methods:

Downloading from the Trainz Download Stations using Content Manager (First Class Ticket recommended)

Downloading DLC (payware) items using the in-game downloader

Importing Content Files (CDPs) using Content Manager

Importing Content Folders (Open for Edit Folders) using Content Manager (See below for more details)

Not Supported:

Built-in content cannot be moved from the install location (instead, download these items from the DLS)

Using Windows to move Local, Original and Packages data folders between builds and then using "Rebuild Database" to force update the content. This is known to cause errors.

Note that almost all "pre-Trainz A New Era" content can be imported into TANE. There will be some items that require fixing in TANE due to changed validation conditions.

The exception to using Windows to move your content is when you are changing the Local Data Folder path from one location to another. In this case your build number has not changed and so the contents and database will operate correctly.

IMPORTING FOLDERS

To import a Folder into TANE from another Trainz installation, you must ensure the item is "Open for Edit". This is done using Content Manager.

In the "older" version of Trainz, open Content Manager

Create a "filter" using the 'search' panel on the left side of the screen to view the items you wish to import. For example, adding a filter "Installed = True" and "Builtin = False" would provide all your non-builtin content.

R-click and choose Open for Edit. This process creates a new Folder for each asset in the Editing folder

To find the Windows path to this folder, on the Launcher click Trainz Settings > Import tab.

Close this version of Trainz

Open the new version of Trainz (where you want to import the content to)

Open Content Manager

Click File > Import Content Folder

Navigate to the Editing folder path you found in Step 4

Ensure the path at the top shows as something like C:\Users\<pcname>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE\build nju354pt1\editing, and "editing" shows as the Folder name in the box at the bottom

Click Select

The "installing" window will now appear and the items will then be imported into your new Trainz installation.

NOTE: You cannot use this method to import BUILTIN content from TS12 or TANE. You must use the Download Station to download any builtin TS12 assets, or use the in-game download option for TANE content.

Additional help: http://online.ts2009.com/mediaWiki/index.php/Help:Importing_Content

TRS19 and T:ANE have been designed to be backwards compatible with the majority of content from previous versions of Trainz so it is possible to import your content from TS12 (or previous versions) into your new version of Trainz

It is important to know that both TRS19 and T:ANE require the original textures to show correctly in-game, and therefore built-in content, which does not contain source files, cannot be imported directly (or it will show with errors).

We are currently in the process of uploading built-in content from previous versions of Trainz to the Download Station which will provide access to that content.

Here is our recommended approach for importing a route and it’s dependencies from your older build:

In Content Manager, select the group of files you want to import excluding the built-in assets (if you are unsure how to do this, see this article for the process to select all the non-built dependencies)

In Content Manager, use Ctrl-A to select the full list of assets, then Ctrl-E to open the items for edit.

Navigate to your Userdata > Editing folder (default is: C:\Program Files (x86)\N3V Games\Trainz Simulator 12\UserData\editing for TS12 and C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE\build xxxxxxx for TANE)

Launch T:ANE, click on “Manage Content” then drag the folders from the above Editing folder into the T:ANE Content Manager window.

To ensure you don’t overwrite newer versions of files, in T:ANE Content Manager, filter on Date Installed = Today, then r-click “Open-for-edit” and r-click “Revert Unsubmitted Changes”

You now have the new route, and all the non-builtin items in T:ANE, so next we need to get the builtin items from the DLS

In T:ANE Content Manager, select the Route that you imported and R-Click > Download. This will check the DLS for further missing Dependencies and download those items and their dependencies.

Don’t forget to go back into your old build and Revert the content you had Open for Edit

Following this process, you do NOT need to run a database repair as T:ANE already knows about the assets when you imported them. (See this article about moving “packages” which DOES require a db rebuild)

Also, do NOT attempt to bring your older build assets over into T:ANE by simply copying your Local folder (you can import the entire folder by dragging and dropping it onto Content Manager but using the steps above is more robust).

Please note that the following items cannot be imported into T:ANE directly:

Trainz built-in content (but this can be downloaded from DLS)

.ja files

.tzarc files

Disk 2 is a dual layer "DVD9" disk (9GB to fit all the extra data on). Unfortunately this means it requires a higher precision in the calibration of the DVD drive laser and a clean disk surface.

Please follow these steps to get the data off your disk and to install Trainz.

1. Using a microfiber cloth (like used to clean your spectacles) and some Windex cleaner, clean the shiny side of the disk in a circular motion around the whole disk.

2. Allow the disk a few seconds to dry

3. Create a new folder on your desktop called Install

4. Place Disk 2 into your DVD drive and use the "Open Folder to view files" option

5. Copy the files from Disk 2 into your new Install folder on the desktop.

6. If all the files do not copy onto the hard drive, try the cleaning process again, checking for any fingerprints or blemishes around the edge.

7. If you still do not succeed, if possible, try a different computer as some DVD readers are better than others.

8. If you cannot get all the data off the disk, please contact helpdesk. We will arrange for you to either download the remaining files or send a replacement disk.

9. If you are successful in downloading all the files into your install drive, repeat the operation above for Disk 1 (copying the files into the same folder on your desktop) then run the setup file from the Install folder.

If a DLC pack is not loading correctly (i.e. shows missing dependencies), then we would suggest suggest that you try re-installing the DLC pack using these steps:

1) You will need to locate your appdata folder. You can find the path to your appdata folder in Launcher > Trainz Settings > Install. The path will look something like C:/Users/%username%/AppData/Local/N3V Games/TANE/build xxxxxxxx for TANE or C:\Users\<pc name>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\trs19 for TRS19 (this will look different on Mac)
2) Shut down Trainz and ensure that tane.exe or trs19.txt had ended (check in Task Manager no other tane.exe or trs19.exe processes are running)
3) Navigate to the LocalData folder location from the Trainz Settings, and open the “build xxxxxxxx” folder or the folder that your install path was pointing to
4) Now open the folder called 'Packages'. Please locate all folders starting with the ID number of the DLC pack in the Packages folder, and then delete them.
5) Once you have deleted these folders, please try running a database repair.

To do this, first click on 'developer' on the launcher screen, then click on 'rebuild database'. Once the repair has completed, please start Trainz and then you should see the 'asset download' window appear, which will allow you to download these routes again.

You can find a list of all available DLC pack IDs here (if it is not listed, then please contact the helpdesk and they will be able to provide it).

The exception to this rule is the Windows Deluxe Box version available from the Trainz Store (formerly SimulatorCentral.com) which has an Offline Mode that never requires an internet connection (this option is not available for Mac).

Of course an Internet connection is required for Download Station access, multiplayer and for DLC authentication. Enabling the Offline Mode will disable any installed DLC packs, as well as Download Station, multiplayer, in-game chat, and online patch installer access.

This error means your system is not able to communicate to the MyTrainz server.

The most likely reason is you have the "Disable Online Features" option selected (if you are using the Deluxe Box edition/"DRM Free" version of TANE).

Uncheck this option in Trainz Launcher > Trainz Settings > Internet

This error could also be an Internet connectivity issue (at either end or somewhere in between your computer and our server) so please check your connection and try again later.

If you have another network (such as a mobile phone hotspot connection) you can try using a different network to see if that resolves the issue.

Please also ensure that you have given Trainz full internet access, you can do this by trying the following.

Go into Window Explorer (or My Computer), and navigate to the Trainz folder, and right click on the 'TANE.exe' file, and click on 'properties', and then click on the tab called 'Compatibility'. Now set the Privilege Level to "Run this program as an administrator", then click on 'apply', then on 'Ok'.

Please also ensure that you have given Trainz full access in your firewall and anti-virus. Please try adding the 'TANE.exe' file as an exception in your firewall and anti-virus.

Builtin content from TS12 does not import directly into TANE - you need to download those items from the DLS (which we are in the process of updating).

To import other content (i.e that you have created or downloaded from the DLS or other sites), you need to select those items and all the non-builtin dependencies in TS12

Since you cannot import built-in items from TS12 directly, you need to filter out those items first. Follow these steps to prepare your assets for importing into T:ANE:

In TS12 Content Manager, type the name of the route or item you wish to export into the Search field

Select the item in the main window and use Ctrl-E to open the item for edit

Drag the Open for Edit item to the pick list window

R-click > "Add all local dependencies"

Select all new items in the pick list (Ctrl-A) and R-click > "Add all local dependencies"

Repeat this until no new items items are added

Select all items in pick list (Ctrl-A) then R-click and “View in main list”

This list now contains all the dependencies, and from this list we now need to remove the built-ins (if you are exporting to TANE)

In the Search filter, check all the assets showing in the main window are now listed in your search filter.

Click the ‘+’ to add another search filter and choose Builtin = False, then "Apply" to remove the built-ins.

You now have the list of assets ready to import into T:ANE

To follow a step by step guide to import these assets into T:ANE follow the additional steps shown in this article

For Trainz A New Era and Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019, Downloadable Content (DLC) items ordered through the Trainz Store will appear as "Available to Download" when you next start Trainz.

No serial key is required and there is no external download link available.

Start Trainz, the in-game download window will appear listing all the DLC routes, sessions or locos you are entitled to. (If the window does not appear, try going into the Routes menu, and if that fails, then exit Trainz and when you restart click Launcher > File > Download purchased items).

Choose which items you wish to install now by selecting the item and clicking the Download button or click the Download All button.

Items will then install automatically and can be found in either the Routes, Sessions or Trains Tab menus, depending on which DLC item was purchased.

FINDING ITEMS ONCE DOWNLOADED:

Some train/locomotive DLCs may include a session for the Kickstarter County route. If you are using TANE, or have the Kickstarter County (not Kickstarter County 2) route in TRS19, and you wish to try the train or drive the session, then when the download is complete to see if a session for that particular train exists. It is a quick way to jump in and start driving your locomotive straight away. If a Session doesn’t exist, you can follow this guide to create new sessions using your DLC items.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Ensure that your produsct is patched to the latest version, some DLC packs will only work in the latest versions of TANE.

If the in-game download window does not appear, restart the game then from the Trainz Launcher, click File > Download Purchased Items, then click Start Trainz.

If this fails, you can also try removing your Username from the Launcher > Internet Tab, then re-entering your details and restarting Trainz

Check the account used to order the product matches the username that you have entered in Launcher > Settings > Internet.

Also, if you have the DRM Free version, ensure you uncheck the "Disable Online Features" option then restart the game.

If you have downloaded a number of items, check that you haven't already installed the items you are looking for by using Content Manager search filter.

Sometimes your TANE installation can become corrupted. This generally happens when content is moved manually rather than using the in-built Import tools, but can also happen during patching or after a game crash.

NOTE: A new installation (including newly downloaded DLC) should never have any Missing Dependencies if correctly installed. It is more likely the install is not complete.

NEW INSTALLATION

Please follow the steps below to rectify missing dependencies with a new install or after patching:

Shutdown TANE (Do not force quit as this process can take 5 minutes or longer in some cases - check it has shut down completely by checking Task Manager)

Restart TANE - a database repair may occur and the problem may be resolved

If a database repair does not run automatically, manually do a database repair by clicking the Developer Menu on the Launcher menu, then Rebuild Database

Restart TANE

If the issue still exists, then you will need to create a new local data folder by following this guide.

If these steps fail, the next step is to reinstall TANE from your DVD/USB or if you have the digital version, in most cases, the latest version of TANE available can be found by logging in to your MyTrainz account.

NEW DLC

Please follow the steps below to rectify missing dependencies with newly downloaded DLC items:

Open the TANE Launcher then go to Trainz Settings > Install Tab

Highlight the Local Data Folder path name (e.g. C:\Users\<pcname>\AppData\Local\N3V Games\TANE\build 7uiv95001) then use Ctrl-C to copy the path to your clipboard

Close all TANE windows to shutdown TANE (Do not force quit as this process can take 5 minutes or longer in some cases - check it has shut down completely by checking Task Manager)

Open a Windows Explorer window, and use Ctrl-V to paste the address, then hit Enter

Click on the "packages" folder which will show a list of DLC folders. (The Date Modified column will show you the latest DLC item downloaded)

Delete the appropriate folder or folders (e.g. SC237)

Next, navigate to the Cache folder and delete the entire cache folder.

Open the TANE Launcher and click Developer > Rebuild Database

Allow this to complete (which can take 5-10 minutes if you have lots of content installed)

Then click File > Download Purchased Items

Click Start Trainz

The Asset Download window will now appear with all non-downloaded items showing.

Select the items to download.

Once the file is downloaded, if it is not immediately be available for use, close the game window and Start Trainz again (you should not need to run a db rebuild).

Deluxe Routes:
You can find a list of the ID numbers for all DLC packs here
Note: There will be more than one folder for some DLC packs - ensure you delete all versions (e.g. sc274d, sc274d_0 etc)

For newer releases of OSx, please try running the app by following these steps:

1) In the Finder, locate the app you want to open. (Don’t use Launchpad to do this. Launchpad doesn’t allow you to access the shortcut menu. )
2) Control-click the app icon, then choose Open from the shortcut menu.
3) Click Open.

The app is saved as an exception to your security settings, and you can open it in the future by double-clicking it just as you can any registered app.

If you are still unable to load the app, then please try the following:

Select the icon and control-click to get the quick menu, then clicked ’Show Package Contents’
