MSVCR120.DLL is missing (0xc000007b)
Posted by N3V Games (Paul) on 04 February 2016 02:51 PM

The "MSVCR120.DLL is missing" or 0xc000007b error message indicates some Windows files are missing or incorrectly installed.

Please download the following file from Microsoft, which will install the necessary files: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3138367/update-for-visual-c-2013-and-visual-c-redistributable-package

You will need to download the appropriate file for your location/language under the 'x64.exe File Path' list (~6.4MB)

Once the file is downloaded

  • Click to run VCredist.x64.exe
  • Click Repair
  • Click Allow this application to make changes to your PC
  • This opens the window Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable (x64)
  • The Processing step takes only a couple of minutes
  • Setup Successful

TROUBLESHOOTING:

DO NOT use the VCredist_x86.exe version. The x64 version is required.

The file MSVCR120.DLL (and MSVCP120.DLL) need to be installed in the following directory: C:\Windows\System32 - check that they are installed if you are still having issues.

The files will be dated 04/10/2013 (otherwise you have installed the wrong version).

Note that the VS 2013 version is required. The 2015 version installer is very similar - it is named VC_redist.x64.exe. This do not install the correct files!
